The closure of the Diablo Canyon Power Plant will hurt the San Luis Obispo County economy but the region will have time to adjust as the plant cycles down. Pacific Gas and Electric announced plans in June to close its power plant by 2025, leaving the area without one of its most prominent employers and source of property tax revenue and high-paying jobs. Friends who work at the plant have time to adjust and many will stay on for years to come. Its interesting to me how many families live in Templeton and drive 45+min. to work at the Power Plant.
